The organization began in 1986 during the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic as the BC Persons With AIDS Society (BCPWA).
The society was created to ensure that people living with HIV had a strong voice in decisions affecting their health, treatment, and rights.
In 2011 the organization adopted the name Positive Living BC to reflect the evolving reality that HIV is now a manageable chronic condition for many people.
To empower people living with HIV through advocacy, support, education, and leadership.
